Election Process

All Members and Fellows of the Institute are eligible to stand for election to the Council or as Chair of a Regional Committee.

The 2007 election process has been completed. However, enquiries from members interested in standing for election are welcome at any point in the Institute year.

Closing date for nominations in 2008 is Friday 20 June.

Candidates are invited to meet with the Institute Nominations Committee. Those candidates who then go forward for election will be subject to a ballot. All full members of the Institute may vote on elections to the Council. All full members in a region are entitled to vote for their own Regional Committee Chair. The elections take place in August each year.

Election criteria

1. Full membership	Membership status Actions taken to develop your membership
2. Time commitment and ability to contribute to Council	Commitment includes travel to London or any other venue decided by the Executive in consultation with the Chair of Council Preparation for meetings Maintaining confidentiality Commitment to working on Council issues between meetings
3. Experience and capability to influence	Representation of the Institute at highest level across full range of the Institute's interests including large practices Creating and maintaining a good image for the Institute Evidence of success, especially in building and maintaining external relationships Network of effective relationships
4. Being aware of member views and representing the Profession as a whole to Council	Awareness of what is going on across all aspects of Business Consulting Knowledge of the market and ability to forecast trends and developments Use of this knowledge in developing Council's plans
5. Experience of planning	Experience in producing and implementing strategic plans Ability to process information and find a clear way forward satisfying multiple stakeholders
6. History of achievement	Level of operation, responsibility successes achieved Understanding of client requirements and stakeholder expectations Building and sustaining relationships
7. Recognised as an expert in own discipline	Evidence of appropriate experience and recognition
8. Support	Demonstration of support for the Council's aims and goals Forming an effective partnership with the Executive Ability to challenge and put forward arguments constructively and courteously.
